Our coastal gardens can be homes and refuges for many species of birds. By planting natural vegetation, we are inviting our feathered friends to visit our yards, gardens, decks and patios. Learn which trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals meet that need. Joining the class will be a Seven Capes volunteer to add to our birding conversations.
What can a homeowner do to protect their home from wildfire? One strategy that can be implemented to reduce fuel and fire hazards is to incorporate fire resistant plants into the landscape. In this class we will review groundcovers, perennials, shrubs, and trees that are known to be fire resistant. Keep in mind that fire resistant does not mean fireproof!

Participants will learn the basic steps of seed saving and identify which seeds are best for beginners. The class also covers the importance of biodiversity and explains how understanding the pollination process helps gardeners ensure a successful crop the following year.
