Dan Stark, Assistant Professor of Practice for the OSU Forestry & Natural Resources Extension, will explore current and potential threats to Oregon forests, particularly native trees and plants in order to better understand the spread, impacts, and consequences of invasive species. As a case study, we will explore Sudden Oak Death (SOD), caused by Phytophthors ramorumresponsible for killing hundreds of thousands of tan oak in Curry County, Oregon and throughout its range in California. It has also killed rhododendrons locally in Lincoln City.
